Style Icon of the Week : James Dean

This week’s Farah style icon is the American actor James Dean.

Annex - Dean, James_08

Dean rose to fame when he starred as troubled teenager Jim Stark in the 1955 film ‘Rebel Without A Cause’; a role with which most young Americans could associate with. The film, which is seen as a representation of teenage angst showcased his iconic style to the world. His envious good looks and effortless style was admired by many and has been ever since the actor’s life was tragically cut short in a fatal car crash at the young age of 24.  His short career saw him star in only two other movies. He is perhaps most famous for his rebellious attitude, his infamous leather jacket and his love of fast cars and motorbikes.

Starring in movies such as The Italian Job and Get Carter, his good looks and distinctive London accent have helped him to secure his place at the top of the style stakes. His look is associated with fine tailoring and British heritage and is one of the only two men to have been nominated for an academy award in every decade from 1960 to 2000.

Style Icon of the Week: Bob Dylan

Bob Dylan is a man of many talents. He is a singer, songwriter, musician, poet, painter and this week, he is our style icon.

At 70 years old, Dylan has had a career spanning over five decades, which began in the early 1960s with songs that highlighted social issues like war and civil rights. Known as one of the most influential American musicians rock & roll has ever produced, Bob Dylan has been closely associated with beautiful women such as Edie Sedgwick.

Although his music has been ever-changing over the years, his style has definitely remained the same – consisting of simple, classic and clean cut pieces.

Hello Mexico at The Macbeth.

We’ve been very busy here at Farah HQ making friends with one of our favourite new bands of the moment Hello Mexico, so, of course we wasted no time in getting ourselves down to their gig last week at The Macbeth in Hoxton.

The London based group which includes Myles, Nick, John, Oliver and Gulli, played a high energy set to a packed East London bar. With some very stylish attendees and a real buzz in the air it was definitely the place to be on this particularly rainy Thursday night!

Josh Beech and The Johns also put in a supporting performance, which pretty much had every lady in the house swooning!

When Hello Mexico finally took to the stage, the crowd was in full force. The boys put on a smashing performance. People danced along to the set whilst drinking a beer or two. They played some amazing new songs, but the song that people really went crazy for, was their cover of Slipknot’s song ‘Duality’.

It looked as if Hello Mexico had as much of a good time as their audience. We were also lucky enough to have the boys wear Farah on the night, and we have to say front-man Myles looked particularly dashing in his Farah Vintage Mansfield shirt.

The night continued afterwards with DJ’s keeping the crowd going till late. Hello Mexico will be releasing their cover of ‘Duality’ and a video for the song ‘April’ soon so be sure to keep an eye out what the boys have to offer in the future.
