Bread & Butter

From 7th-9th July, we took Farah Vintage on the road, all the way to Berlin for Bread and Butter. No not a celebration of ye olde English pudding, but rather a work-drilled, fun-fuelled three day fashion tradeshow excursion abroad, offering brands, labels and designers the chance to show off their creations. For those who like to get ahead of the game, it’s worth reading on, you very well might catch a glimpse of the future.

We plonked ourselves firmly in the thick of things, in the LOCK area, the place for heritage brands, adjacent to the likes of Barbour, Lyle & Scott, and Fred Perry. Labels of Common Kin indeed, and what a cracking environment it was too. Needless to say, our wears sat tall and proud amongst some other great brands. Some old faces, and a couple new, it was just like coming back to school after the Summer off.

Our stand was looking pretty sleek, the light Spring/Summer 2011 tones striking a fine balance against the rich warm Autumnal shades of the current campaign imagery lining the walls. With Gavin Watson imagery the backdrop, and our forward collection the foreground, we’d pitched up our own little piece of the East End right there in Berlin.

Indeed, the Farah Vintage collection was the highlight of the stand, while the 1920 Collection, albeit seen already by UK press, received a resounding “Oui/Ja/Ci” from the Europeans, who loved the concept and its execution. We worked hard, and partied perhaps a little harder, and with plenty to do and see, plus two World Cup semi-finals to watch on outdoor screens in some blistering heat, we certainly had quite a weekend.
