With last Fridays Artrocker Awards being one of the most eagerly anticipated dates in our diary, and with the Artrocker icon award being sponsored by none other than Farah, we headed down to XOYO to bring you some exclusive interviews with Icons winner, Tim Burgess and Photographer of the Year, Gavin Watson. We also bought down a few cheeky Christmas presents for all in attendance and showed off our blinding AW 11 collection. With the drinks flowing freely, some great bands performing and legends, Jesus and Mary Chain and Gary Numan DJ’ing, the event was a right old knees up!

The winner of our Farah Icon award went to the wonderfully humble Tim Burgess of The Charlatans! Tim managed to spare a couple of minutes so we could congratulate him on his award and find out a bit about him.

Naming Ian Curtis of Joy Division and the punk legend Siouxsie Sioux as his own personal icons, Tim felt it is a huge honor to have won the Farah Icon award. He also took a liking to our Farah Vintage Cardigan telling us it was very suited to the upcoming christmas season and told us that his own favorite Jumper was an old blue sports sweatshirt that he couldn’t possibly live without. We also asked Tim who’s style he rates, his answer: 80’s Madonna. Our reply: Who doesn’t like to channel some 80’s Madonna. You couldn’t possibly argue with a man who’s just won an Icon award!

We also managed to catch up with photographer Gavin Watson who won Artrocker’s Photographer of the year award, presented to him by the very dapper, Plan B. Known for his early work documenting his teen years as part of the skinhead movement, Watson then made his move into fashion photography and we’ve been lucky enough to have had Gavin shoot the last few campaigns for us. Gavin told us that he’s always been inspired by street style and sub cultures and that the Skinhead scene has always been his biggest influence. He also so kindly told us how big a Farah fan he’s been over the years and we are most certainly fans of his.

A massive thank you to all at Artrocker for a brilliant start to the weekend and an awesome line up of bands. And special shout out also to the lovely to Zoe Jade for taking the photographs at the event. We can’t wait for next year! Over and out!
