Spotted!

Love it or hate it X Factor has established itself over the last few years as a British institution. You’d be hard-pressed to go a Monday without its name being mentioned. Last year’s runner-up Olly Murs is a big Farah Vintage fan and he repped it all the way to the final. This year we’ve spotted another hopeful (or hopefuls) looking sharp in some Farah Vintage garms. One Direction are big fans of the brand and they were kind enough to send us these pictures of themselves chilling backstage in our clobber. Chicks are loving these guys right now, and these garms will do them no harm whatsoever. Farah Vintage is a brand that has been at the heart of emerging sub-cultures for the past several decades. It’s nice to see the younger generations are taking their history lessons! With clothes like the Farah goods we caught One Direction in, the next generation might just be the best-dressed yet. (Big thank you goes out to Zayn, Louis and Harry for the snaps.)

Like what you see, we sell this gear at some great retailers, including these fine fellows, ASOS, My Wardrobe, and Urban Outfitters. Check them out.

Delta Spirit

Delta Spirit, the five-piece band hailing from San Diego recently dropped by to record a Later with Jules Holland session.  Keep an eye out for these guys. Fresh off the back of their new album History from Below, they’re certainly getting about, and making some impressive rock-infused waves of nosatliga along the way! Real good old-fashioned rock’n'roll fun. Here’s a clip of them on Later with Jules Holland, doing what they do best. Keep an eye out for Jon Jameson on bass rocking his Albany tobacco chinos and Brandon Young on drums in his Farah Vintage checked shirt. Nice one boys.

Meet Our F-Tab Competition Winner Jack Sunnucks!

Jack

Meet Jack Sunnucks, his entry won our design competition which will be featured on a t-shirt in our AW10 holiday collection that hits stores in November. We got a few words from him to find out his inspiration behind the design and what he’s currently working on.

What’s your background (education/work)?
I’m at Central St. Martins doing Fashion Communication & Promotion, in my spare time I DJ as the Anarchic Female.

Where did you find out about the Farah competition?
I found out about it through college.

Was the design that won you the contest your only draft?
Yes it was my only draft as it was a very instinctive design and very relevant to me; I find it exciting to do more spur of the moment things. Hence my last minute train journey to Milan tomorrow I suppose!

What materials did you use to create the F-tab logo?
It’s made out of black chiffon and dressmaking pins.

Farah F-Tab

How would you describe your style of design?
Hmmm. I’d say there’s several conflicts in what I do – being inspired by youth but also wanting things to look aged and decaying. Similarly, wanting to do beautiful things but loving dirt. Sort of like having a sparkly sticker covered phone in your bag but also Edgar Allen Poe. Which is actually what’s lurking in mine right now.

Who are your design inspirations?
Design Inspirations… My Grandmother really inspires me she’s very knowledgeable and kind whilst always looking killer. Seriously chic. Also I like noise rock bands.

What kind of projects are you currently working on?
Photography! I’ve been working on a long term project about the joys of being a young girl wearing Issey Miyake.

Jack

Who are of your favourite artists/designers and why?
I love the photographer Sarah Moon so SO much and always have. Her work is poignant and delicate yet so full of force I think. Right now I love wearing Louise Gray’s clothes they make me so happy and positive feeling, such as her T-shirt with a heart cut out. Right now I’m wearing a big sheep skin coat with a hole cut out as obviously it’s raining and cold. And I watch Pedro Almodovar’s film constantly as they make me cry with laughter, but sometimes just cry, and are always incredible visually and musically.

Congratulations Jack!
