FARAH PRESENTS: THE BERLIN YEARS
For our 2019 Holiday Collection we retraced back to David Bowie and Iggy Pop’s musical journey through post war Berlin. In need of inspiration, and desperate to escape New York’s hedonistic lifestyle, Bowie and Iggy headed to Berlin to experience the legendary underground music scene.
Out of the spotlight and inspired by the city’s post war landscape the pair recorded 4 albums between ‘77 and '79 including Bowie’s seminal Heroes and Iggy’s The Idiot.
Using photos taken from the time, this collection pays homage to the Berlin Years. Exploring how the rich hues of the clothes contrast completely with the muted tones of the bleak post war city.
Standout pieces include the Hawtin crop trouser, the Neukoln casual shirt and the Bowie Harrington produced using mill washed corduroy. The Watson tee and the Barnes crew featuring a two colour block stripe and bound neck finish.
Plaid checks include the Mccaslin flannel and the Belway oxford straight hem, which are laundered to accentuate the fabrics’ characteristics.
Shop select pieces from the new autumn/winter holiday collection online at Farah.co.uk and in our London, Brighton and Leeds stores.
